Commemorating Huntington Heroes of the 9/11 Boatlift Rescue
I had the honor and privilege of recognizing the Captain and crew of the James Joseph for their bravery and heroism on 9/11. As the attacks on the World Trade Center were occurring, no one could have foreseen the extent of the devastation on that day. Captain James Schneider and the crew of the James Joseph Fishing risked their lives to go into Lower Manhattan to help in any way that they could. They rescued hundreds and hundreds of people that day. While everyone was trying to get off of Manhattan, these brave men ran towards the chaos. Their experiences from that day are an untold story that I am proud to tell today and honor them with a permanent plaque at Huntington Harbor.

The Love of Learning Montessori School Partners with Tusk and the African Conservation and Community Foundation
I was proud to meet these creative young students today as they graduated kindergarten and eighth grade! The Love of Learning Montessori School partnered with Tusk and the African Conservation and Community Foundation to help spread awareness and raise funds for conservation efforts and communities across Africa that were impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The students helped create a life-size rhinoceros and 4 large African paintings, which will be auctioned off in the Hamptons to raise the funds. All proceeds will be donated to benefit Tusk and the ACCF. For these kids, during the Covid-19 pandemic, to be so thoughtful to be thinking about the effects it was having on the wildlife in Africa is amazing.
