Ernesto Modesto Chea Recycling Center Dedication

On June 28th, I was proud to attend to the renaming of the Huntington Recycling Center after Ernesto Modesto Chea. Ernie was the Supervisor of recycling for many years up until 2019 when he retired. He was a kind man, who would talk to any visitor of the recycling center with a smile on his face. Ernie was a well-respected man of this community who did important work and will be greatly missed.

The Love of Learning Montessori School Partners with Tusk and the African Conservation and Community Foundation

I was proud to meet these creative young students today as they graduated kindergarten and eighth grade! The Love of Learning Montessori School partnered with Tusk and the African Conservation and Community Foundation to help spread awareness and raise funds for conservation efforts and communities across Africa that were impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The students helped create a life-size rhinoceros and 4 large African paintings, which will be auctioned off in the Hamptons to raise the funds. All proceeds will be donated to benefit Tusk and the ACCF. For these kids, during the Covid-19 pandemic, to be so thoughtful to be thinking about the effects it was having on the wildlife in Africa is amazing.

Pride Month Flag Raising Event in Huntington's Village Green

I was proud to partner with David Kilmnick and the LGBT Network to raise a Pride Flag in celebration of Pride Month. For this event, we were joined by students from both Elwood John Glenn and Huntington High Schools. We have chosen to celebrate Pride Month by raising a Pride Flag in Huntington’s Village Green. The Flag will fly all month as a symbol of the Town’s commitment to a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all. We want to celebrate everyone’s freedom to love who they love unconditionally.

Congratulations to Kevin Siegall for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and for becoming the 100th Scout to join the Eagle Scout Honor Roll of Troop 106. Kevin's Eagle Project involved organizing the building of 2 benches and a perennial garden at the Suffolk YJCC. This is a huge accomplishment and both Kevin and his family should be very proud!
