Councilman Mark Cuthbertson has kept the pledge he made when first elected to put politics aside and be a part of a bi-partisan effort that resulted in one of the most significant turnarounds in local government on Long Island. Throughout his tenure, Cuthbertson has voted to reduce and stabilize taxes in Huntington.
Councilman Cuthbertson has focused on the area of economic development and job creation and has used his background in real estate law to attract several major projects in the Route 110 corridor, including Canon USA and Rubie's Costumes.
Mr. Cuthbertson is always focused on improving the quality of life for all town residents and recently sponsored legislation to ban smoking on or near athletic fields and anti-tethering legislation for the better treatment of dogs. He has worked to crack down on establishments with extensive histories of violence such as Melissa Restaurant and Bar in Huntington Station.
