Lenney Peters Jr. Golf Tournament

Northport, NY – Under blue skies and with beautiful panoramic views of the Long Island Sound, over twenty junior golfers, ranging in ages 10 to 17, took to the fairways of the Crab Meadow Golf Course in Northport on August 30th to compete in the Lenney Peters Junior Golf Tournament – hosted by Councilman Mark Cuthbertson, the Town of Huntington and Integrity Golf.

This popular event was founded and first held in 1967 by Crab Meadow’s first golf professional, Lenney Peters.

“Lenney was a true champion of the game and a fierce advocate of promoting youth golf,” stated Councilman Mark Cuthbertson, co-host of the event. “This event truly honors Lenney’s legacy and spirit and my congratulations to all of this year’s winners,” added Cuthbertson.

Councilman Mark Cuthbertson was joined by John A. La Ruffa, a past winner of the Lenney Peters Jr, Golf Tournament to assist with presenting the awards to this year’s winners.

The winners of the first division (Boys and Girls ages 10 to 14) - with nine holes of play:
1st place: Robert Dixon with a score of 44.
2ndPlace: Drew Tonan, with a score of 51.
3rd Place: Bryce Karty, with a score of 54.

The winners of the second division (Boys and Girls ages 15 to 17) - with 18 holes of play:
1st Place: Matthew Cheshire with a score of 80
2nd Place: George Dixon with a score of 86
3rd Place: Tyler Zere with a score of 92

Councilman Mark Cuthbertson has already begun to put the plans in place for next year’s event to celebrate 50 years of this popular youth tournament.
