Council Members Cuthbertson and Edwards Support Asharoken Seawall Restoration Project

Asharoken, NY, - Town Council Members Mark Cuthbertson and Tracey Edwards recently attended a meeting held by Asharoken Mayor Greg Letica and Rep. Tom Suozzi to discuss the short term and long term solutions in repairing or replacing the eroding 932 foot seawall. This northern section of Asharoken Avenue that runs along the shores of the Long Island Sound is susceptible to coastal storms and is the only way in or out for the more than 700 families who call Eaton’s Neck home. During coastal storms or emergencies, Asharoken Avenue becomes a lifeline for not only the residents, but for first responders as well.

"Councilwoman Edwards and I look forward to working with Mayor Letica, Rep. Suozzi, the U. S. Army Corp. of Engineers and all levels of Government to develop a successful solution in fortifying the seawall for the many, many years to come," stated Councilman Mark Cuthbertson.
